Varuna Sentinels BV is built and led by two directors with complementary backgrounds in maritime compliance, software engineering and global ship management.
Sanjeev brings nearly two decades of leadership across shipboard engineering, ship management and maritime technology. He serves as Managing Director of Varuna Marine Services BV and is a co-founder of Varuna Sentinels BV and Cyber Waves B.V. A Marine Engineer Officer by training, he began his career at sea on multiple classes of cargo vessels before progressing into shore-based technical and operational roles with leading shipowners. He holds a BTech in Marine Engineering (university topper, 2008) and an MBA in Maritime Management with Distinction from the University of Greenwich, London. Sanjeev is a Certified Hazmat Expert (DNV GL — Maritime) and serves as Adviser to the Government of Vanuatu’s Ministry of Climate Change. Based in Amsterdam.

Rakesh brings 30 years of experience in the global maritime industry. A Mechanical Engineer by training, he served for nearly two decades at Wilhelmsen Ship Management as General Manager / Head of IHM (Inventory of Hazardous Materials), Green Recycling Services and Lay-up Services — covering ships, offshore units and rigs. He is a leading authority on the inventorying of hazardous materials, end-to-end vessel management, and safe, innovative, environmentally correct ship recycling, and a pioneer in the conceptualisation and implementation of both hot and cold ship lay-up programmes.
